Cactus Dahlia

  • The Dahlia Color Spectacle, certainly lives up to its name. This bright orange, red and white ombre herbaceous perennial, often known as a Cactus Dahlia will put on a colourful display wherever planted growing to an incredible 100cm in height. This striking Summer flowering plant, native to Mexico and Central America, is loved by pollinating insects, in particular bees and butterflies blooming during the months of June to September.
  • These low maintenance, easy to grow Summer flowering plants are perfect for growing in pots or containers but can be planted up in borders and beds. They can be used as cut flowers allowing you to enjoy them in your home and garden. Dahlia tubers will provide a show all Summer and should be lifted, stored and replanted again the following year. Lifting them should take place before the first frosts, ideally mid Autumn. A light frost won’t cause too much damage but leaving it too late in the season can damage the plant.
  • If you are not ready to plant bulbs now, then store them in a cool, dry, frost free, well ventilated location. A garage, shed, loft or cupboard are ideal. Open the paper bag to allow air to circulate round but leave the bulbs in their bags until ready to plant. Just make sure mice or other rodents can’t get access to them. Keep an eye on your bulbs while in storage, if they are showing signs of going soft, it's best to get them planted before they deteriorate any further.
  • These tubers are on pre-order for dispatch Early February 2025.
