Dahlia
- With this fantastic mixed decorative Dahlia bulb collection, you will receive 4, 6, 8 or 10 Summer flowering tubers in a mix of colours. Dahlia are half hardy impactful upright growing herbaceous perennials. These easy to grow plants are popular in UK gardens because of their long flowering period, flowering from July until early November. Decorative Dahlia are loved by pollinating insects, in particular bees and butterflies and are perfect for planting with other late flowering plants like Salvia and ornamental grasses.
- These low maintenance, easy to grow Summer flowering plants are perfect for growing in pots or containers but can be planted up in borders and beds. They can be used as cut flowers allowing you to enjoy them in your home and garden. Dahlia tubers will provide a show all Summer and should be lifted, stored and replanted again the following year. Lifting them should take place before the first frosts, ideally mid Autumn. A light frost won’t cause too much damage but leaving it too late in the season can damage the plant.
- If you are not ready to plant bulbs now, then store them in a cool, dry, frost free, well ventilated location. A garage, shed, loft or cupboard are ideal. Open the paper bag to allow air to circulate round but leave the bulbs in their bags until ready to plant. Just make sure mice or other rodents can’t get access to them. Keep an eye on your bulbs while in storage, if they are showing signs of going soft, it's best to get them planted before they deteriorate any further.

Best Growing Conditions
Plant these garden bulbs during the Spring after Winter frosts have passed in fertile, well draining soil in a sheltered area that gets full sun to partial shade. Dahlia tubers require soaking in tepid water for up to an hour to help rehydrate them. Once rehydrated, they should be planted 10 cm deep and approximately 45 cm apart. After planting, water well and water about once a week during the growing season.
