Bromeliad Urn Plant

Aechmea fasciata Primera
- The Aechmea Fasciata Primera is a real live indoor bromeliad, commonly known as the Urn Plant. This stunning tropical evergreen perennial produces rosettes of broad green leaves that feature attractive silver grey horizontal markings. From the centre a large flower spike with pink bracts is formed, with which small purple flowers appear. This will last for many weeks before it fades and the plant dies back. This hardy easy to care for plant can grow to a height of 50cm with a spread of 30cm. NOTE: the decorative pot is not included, it will arrive in a 15cm plastic growing pot.
- Use rainwater or filtered tap water for misting and watering your bromeliad. This plant is sensitive to chlorine, so water using rainwater or distilled water when possible. Soft water contains too much salt and hard tap water contains chlorine and fluoride that can leave water spots on foliage and chemicals in the plant.

Light Required
Best placed in a bright spot that receives diffused indirect sunlight but can tolerate lower light conditions. Bright sunlight, in particular afternoon sunlight can cause the plant to scorch.

Watering
Water the plant by filling the urn shape created by the rosette of leaves to around one inch deep. Empty and refill the urn every couple of weeks to prevent the water stagnating. As this plant likes humidity misting regularly or placing a tray of damp pebbles under the growing pot will help increase the plants humidity levels.

Best Growing Conditions
Place it less than 30 cm from a south-facing window to maximise the potential for growth. Average household temperatures of about 15-30°C are perfect but it is important to make sure temperatures don’t drop below 12°C in the Winter.
