Coral Bark Maple
- Acer palmatum 'Sango-kaku' is the most well known Coral Bark Maple tree, renowned for its striking coral pink-red stems.
- Producing pink young growth and yellow/orange, deeply lobed new foliage in the spring, the leaves turn a lush green in summer and then a pretty soft yellow in autumn.
- It also makes a fine winter feature, with the bark on all its younger shoots and branches a conspicuous coral red.
- The Royal Horticultural Society has given it the prestigious Award of Garden Merit
Can grow up to 6 m in the right conditions.

Very hardy plant (-20C). Grows better in a sheltered position in full sun to partial shade and in moist, well-draining soil that is on the acidic side.
