Dryopteris wallichiana Hardy Fern - Bronze Colouring

  • The Jurassic Gold is a deciduous to semi evergreen fern that has long tapering green fronds that turn a bronzy gold colour when young and back to a lime green colour as the plant matures. Native to Great Britain, this fern variety was first discovered by Bob Hollister on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset.
  • This hardy fern makes an excellent addition to any patio planting arrangement or for the centre of a hanging basket. It complements other cool tolerant plants such as Primroses, Pansy, Viola during the Spring/Summer months or Mini Cyclamen in the Autumn.
  • Once finished in a container it can be then planted into a garden for more years of enjoyment.

The Common Polypody thrives in shady damp conditions in humus-rich slightly acidic soil. To extend its growth, remove old fronds in the Spring after the last frost - this will allow the new growth to uncurl.
