Common Polypody - Outdoor Evergreen Hardy Fern
- The Polypodium vulgare is a low growing evergreen hardy fern with long, deep cut leathery dark green fronds. Each frond has a slight sheen and an attractive, lacy appearance. Native to Great Britain, this fern is ideal for growing on wall banks where there is little soil or in rockeries.
- This hardy fern makes an excellent addition to any patio planting arrangement or for the centre of a hanging basket. It complements other cool tolerant plants such as Primroses, Pansy, Viola during the Spring/Summer months or Mini Cyclamen in the Autumn.
- Once finished in a container it can be then planted into a garden for more years of enjoyment.

Best Growing Conditions
The Common Polypody thrives in shady damp conditions in humus-rich slightly acidic soil. To extend its growth, remove old fronds in the Spring after the last frost - this will allow the new growth to uncurl.
