Pink Quill

The Tillandsia Cyanea often known as the Pink Quill, Fan Flower or Blue Flowered Torch is a real indoor evergreen bromeliad plant with rosettes of narrow, dark green leaves that grow to 35 cm in length. It produces bright pink fan shaped bracts from which violet blue flowers form. This hardy, easy to care for houseplant can grow to between 10 and 20 cm in height. NOTE: the decorative pot is not included, it will arrive in a 9cm plastic growing pot.

  • Use rainwater or filtered tap water for misting your bromeliad. This plant is sensitive to chlorine, so water using rainwater or distilled water when possible. Soft water contains too much salt and hard tap water contains chlorine and fluoride that can leave water spots on foliage and chemicals in the plant.

  • Light Required

The Pink Quill plant is best placed in a bright spot that receives diffused indirect sunlight. Bright sunlight, in particular afternoon sunlight can cause the plant to scorch. Place it less than 30 cm from a south-facing window to maximise the potential for growth. Average household temperatures of about 15-30°C are perfect but it is important to make sure temperatures don’t drop below 15°C in the Winter.

  • Watering

Water the plant when the top two inches of soil are dry. Spray with water until leaves are thoroughly wet, 2-3 times a week. The water that runs off should be enough to wet the roots. Make sure it doesn't dry out too much as this can make it less likely to flower.

  • Best Growing Conditions

Do not soak the base of the plant as this causes the flower stem to rot and this plant doesn’t like soggy roots.
