- FOLIAGE: The Weigela 'Tower of Flowers Cherry' is a deciduous shrub with a vast display of green and bronze foliage. Due to it's deciduous nature, it will lose it's leaves later in the year but will return in the Spring with all new foliage.
- FLOWERING: This plant will produce cherry-red flowers in late Spring to Summer.
- SOIL: This plant likes to be planted in well-drained moist soil. It can be planted in drier soil but will require regular watering.
- SUNLIGHT: Weigelas are best planted within an area of the garden that gets full sunlight.

Watering
Weigela needs a nice long drink when first planted. Water when the top 2 inches of soil dry out during the first growing season. Depending on the amount of sunlight and weather, plan on watering a newly planted Weigela 1 to 2 times per week. Once established, Weigela requires very little care. The plant may need water in a drought, but established Weigela is very self-sufficient under normal conditions. Potted Weigela will need to be on a regular schedule for water. Container-grown plants dry out more quickly, so water 1 to 2 times a week depending on the soil conditions and weather.

Best Growing Conditions
Weigela care includes pruning for shape. Mature bushes benefit from the removal of older interior branches in late winter to improve the shrub’s vigor and bloom the next year. Light pruning for shape can be included in care of Weigela following the spring bloom. Growing Weigela should be fertilized once a year as a part of Weigela care. A regular, balanced plant food in late winter can promote more springtime blooms. Dwarf cultivars are available of various Weigela. Care of smaller plants involves less pruning and less room necessary for their growth. Dwarf varieties of Weigela grow well in containers and may decorate your full sun area with attractive blooms. Dwarf Weigela care is similar to that of the regular specimen. Both ground and container planted specimens need regular watering as part of Weigela care. Growing Weigela provides long time blooms in your landscape.
