• HISTORY: This variety of mushroom has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 4000 years. They grow naturally in Japan and China's warmer climates on dead hardwood, but are extremely rare in the wild.
• LOOK: The caps of these mushrooms are kidney shaped and are dark orange to red in colour. With a woody like texture.
