The Hedera helix commonly known as English Ivy is a live vigorously growing evergreen climbing plant with twinning stems covered in three to five lobed shaped glossy green with splashes of white leaves. It can be trained to climb up or spread out along walls and up structures indoor and outdoor. When growing outdoors Ivy is the perfect pollinator and will attract bees, butterflies and birds, as well as other wildlife to the garden.
PLANT GIFT - This fast growing, easy to grow plant, comes planted in a 15cm terracotta plant pot topped with moss making it an excellent garden gift for plant and garden lovers at Christmas.
GROWING - Hedera helix can be grown in full sun to full shade in sheltered and exposed areas of the garden. This variety of ivy is also perfect for keeping indoors and can be positioned within a home or office environment in full sunlight to full shade. Ivy prefers to be kept slightly on the dry side, so let the soil dry out some, before watering again. Ivy should not be kept in standing water or overly wet soil.
ONGOING CARE - If growing outdoors, pruning is very straightforward and easy to undertake. Trim back any excess growth in mid Spring. Small ivy plants can be repotted once a year, while larger plants may need to be repotted every two years. Always repot with new soil to ensure adequate nutrition.
