- The Strelitzia Bird of Paradise is native to South Africa, and is a real talking point as it has large exotic looking paddle shaped leaves on long elegant stems. The leaves are a gorgeous glossy dark green colour and will complement any room in the home or an office. Due to the nature of this plant, it does not produce any of its fascinating flowers in the UK until after 4 to 6 years of growth.
- All Strelitzia plants will have some splits in their leaves, this is a clever trick the plant does to ensure that the younger leaves receive plenty of light. You will particularly notice this on the mature leaves and is a part of the natural charm of this plant.

This plant likes to be grown in moist draining soil in bright indirect sunlight. It can cope with some spells of direct sunlight.
