The Victoria Rhubarb is one of the easiest to grow, which is ideal for beginners new to growing fruit and keen gardeners alike. This variety produces a good harvest crop, it is a greenish red colour with juicy stems that have a sweet delicious taste ideal for cooking for desserts or jams. It is a fully hardy plant meaning it can withstand winter months.

  • LONG HARVEST - A vigorous perennial with large, glossy, wrinkled, mid-green leaves and long, bright red, edible stems ready for late harvest from early spring to midsummer.

  • SO TASTY - Rhubarb is delicious in desserts and as it is so easy to grow and takes up very little room it deserves a place in every garden.

  • EASY TO GROW - This variety is easy to grow in the UK and will produce a large crop.

  • PLANTING - Grow in well drained soil great in vegetable gardens and do not move once planted in the ground.

  • FORCING - This variety can be forced late approximately mid winter with rhubarb forcer or a tall bucket. This can speed up harvest depending on weather anything between 2 -6 weeks

  • LEAVES - Only eat the stalks as leaves are poisonous

  • STORING - We recommend planting once you receive it as long as weather is not too hot, if not ready for planting now, open the paper bag to keep the crowns well ventilated, away from any moisture and in a cool dark spot. Regularly check on them as no pets or rodents have got them

Plant rhubarb crowns from autumn to spring in a sunny spot in well drained soil. Prepare the soil well by digging in plenty of well rotted manure and remove all weeds. When planting crowns, ensure the top of the crown sits 3cm below soil level, and space them at 75cm intervals. Keep plants well-watered in their first year and mulch annually with home-made compost or well-rotted manure.
