Oxalis Bulbs

Oxalis bulbs are one of those plants you fall in love with silently. They may not be the biggest or most flamboyant plants in the yard, but they have a hard-to-ignore appeal. They have an interesting habit of opening and shutting with the light, and their distinctive leaves and delicate flowers give colour and intrigue for months.

The most common kind is Oxalis triangularis, sometimes called Purple Shamrock for its rich purple, butterfly-like leaves. Even out of flower the foliage is a stunning spectacle in its own right.
Tucked into a gorgeous pot, lighting up a windowsill or planted in a summer container, oxalis always seems to draw compliments.

They're also really easy to grow. These are small plants which come true rapidly from oxalis bulbs and provide you a lengthy season of colour. Their compact stature makes them suited for small places and the various looks add something a bit different to mixed planting ideas.
