  • Double Begonia are vibrant tuberous perennials that produces masses of large double petalled velvety flowers that contrast against its ruffled spade like dark green foliage. This Summer flowering plant is loved by pollinating insects, in particular bees and butterflies and popular in UK gardens blooming from June to October, with each flower growing to an incredible 15 cm in diameter. Please note that quantities and varieties may vary depending on availability.

  • These low maintenance, easy to grow Double Begonias are perfect for growing in pots or containers but can be planted up in borders and beds. They can be used as cut flowers allowing you to enjoy them in your home and garden. Begonia tubers will provide a show all Summer and can be lifted, stored and replanted again the following year. Lifting them should take place before the first frosts, ideally mid Autumn. A light frost wont cause too much damage but leaving it too late in the season can damage the plant.

  • If you are not ready to plant bulbs now, then store them in a cool, dry, frost free, well ventilated location. A garage, shed, loft or cupboard are ideal. Open the paper bag to allow air to circulate round but leave the bulbs in their bags until ready to plant. Just make sure mice or other rodents cant get access to them. Keep an eye on your bulbs while in storage, if they are showing signs of going soft, it's best to get them planted before they deteriorate any further.

  • Light Required Full sun to partial shade

    Watering Moderate watering

Best Growing Conditions Begonias are sensitive to the cold, so start growing them indoors or harden them off before planting outdoors. When ready to plant outdoors through March and May, plant these tubers with their hollow side up, 2.5 cm deep, 2 cm apart in fertile well draining soil in a sheltered area that gets full sun to partial shade. After planting they can be watered as often as is needed. Soak well when watering to reach the whole root system.
