Lobelia cardinalis 'Queen Victoria' is a striking herbaceous perennial admired for its vivid deep red flower spikes and rich, dark bronze foliage. Standing up to 90 cm tall, it brings bold vertical interest to borders, pond edges and damp garden spots. The scarlet blooms appear from late summer into early autumn, drawing in bees and other pollinators when few other plants are in full colour.
Unlike many lobelias, 'Queen Victoria' thrives in moist, fertile soil and prefers a sunny or partially shaded location. Its unique combination of colourful blooms and ornamental foliage makes it both a focal point and a reliable seasonal performer. This variety is also clump-forming and works well in wildlife-friendly gardens or alongside other moisture-loving plants.
Light Required Full sunlight to partial shade, in South, East or West facing areas of the garden.
Watering Moderate watering
Best Growing Conditions It can be planted in beds and borders as well as in pots and near ponds or water features, but not planted directly in the water. Cut down faded flower spikes in Autumn.
