  • Sempervivum, often known as houseleeks or hens and chicks, are wonderfully hardy little succulents that are almost impossible to get wrong. They form neat rosettes of fleshy leaves in shades of green, red and even purple, often changing colour with the seasons. Over time, they produce offsets around the main plant, creating a lovely clustered effect.

  • Perfect for rockeries, gravel gardens, alpine troughs or shallow containers, Sempervivums thrive where many other plants would struggle. They’re incredibly low maintenance and cope well with dry spells, poor soil and exposed spots.

    • Light Required Full sun

    Watering Water sparingly; allow compost to dry out between watering. Avoid waterlogged soil.

    Best Growing Conditions Plant in full sun in sharply drained soil or gritty compost. Avoid overwatering, especially in winter, as they dislike sitting in wet conditions. Remove old rosettes after flowering to keep plants tidy and encourage new growth.
