  • African Marigolds are a brilliant choice for adding bold, cheerful colour to the garden. These plants produce large pom pom-style flowers in vibrant shades of orange and yellow, sitting above lush green foliage and bringing plenty of impact from summer into early autumn.

  • They’re perfect for brightening up beds, borders and patio containers, and their strong, upright growth makes them great for creating full, eye-catching displays. Easy to grow and reliable, they’re ideal if you want long-lasting colour without too much effort.

Watering Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil evenly moist while the plant establishes. Once established, water during prolonged dry periods rather than little and often, allowing the soil to drain between waterings. Container-grown plants should be checked more frequently in warm or windy weather.

Best Growing Conditions Grow in sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained loam. Choose a position with good airflow and enough space for the plant to reach its mature size. Protect from hard frost and cold, drying winds, especially while young or when grown in containers.

    Top tip

Remove faded flowers regularly to keep the plant tidy and encourage the longest possible flowering display. In colder parts of the UK, give it a sheltered position and provide winter protection during prolonged frost.
