  • Allium Cowanii also known as Allium Neapolitanum is a very delicate and pretty late Spring to early Summer flowering perennial. It produces loose short wiry spikes of small pure white star shaped flowers loved by pollinating insects, in particular bees and butterflies. This stunning allium grows between 30 and 40 cm in height and will flower for several weeks between May and June.

  • These bulbs are great for growing in flower beds and garden borders or also in patio pots. These Allium plants make a great addition to any planting arrangement and do particularly well when planted en masse. They are an excellent accompaniment to other plants in blues and purples. Allium Cowanni can also be used as cut flowers allowing you to enjoy them in your home and garden.

  • If you are not ready to plant bulbs now, then store them in a cool, dry, frost free, well ventilated location. A garage, shed, loft or cupboard are ideal. Open the paper bag to allow air to circulate round but leave the bulbs in their bags until ready to plant. Just make sure mice or other rodents can’t get access to them. Keep an eye on your bulbs while in storage, if they are showing signs of going soft, it's best to get them planted before they deteriorate any further.

    Watering Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil around the bulbs. During active growth, water in prolonged dry spells so the soil stays lightly moist but never waterlogged. Once the foliage naturally dies back, reduce watering and allow the bulbs to rest more dryly.

    Best Growing Conditions Plant in fertile loam in sun or partial shade. Choose a position that does not stay waterlogged in winter, as good drainage helps bulbs return reliably. Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering so the bulb can store energy for the following season.
