Add a splash of rich purple to your borders with Allium 'Purple Rain' bulbs. This ornamental allium produces large, rounded flower heads made up of dozens of small purple blooms, held on tall stems above the surrounding plants.

Flowering in late spring and early summer, Allium 'Purple Rain' works particularly well planted through perennial borders or in groups where its distinctive flower heads can really stand out. The flowers are also a favourite with bees and other pollinators, bringing plenty of activity to the garden.

Plant the bulbs in autumn in a sunny spot with well-drained soil. Once planted, they're easy to look after and will come back year after year in the right conditions. The dried flower heads can also be left in place after flowering for a bit of extra structure.

A great choice if you want something colourful, easy to grow and a little different in your spring garden.

Plant the bulbs around three times their own depth and leave the foliage to die back naturally after flowering so they can store energy for next year's display.
