June to September
- Begonia Picotee is a pretty two toned tuberous perennial that produces masses of large silvery white blooms edged with a ribbon of red. This Summer flowering plant is loved by pollinating insects, in particular bees and butterflies and popular in UK gardens blooming from June to September, with each flower growing to an incredible 10 to 20 cm in diameter. This stunning begonia will add colour and impact to wherever planted growing to a height of 35 cm, with a spread of 30 cm.
- These low maintenance, easy to grow Begonias are perfect for growing in pots or containers but can be planted up in borders and beds. They can be used as cut flowers allowing you to enjoy them in your home and garden. Begonia tubers will provide a show all Summer and can be lifted, stored and replanted again the following year. Lifting them should take place before the first frosts, ideally mid Autumn. A light frost won’t cause too much damage but leaving it too late in the season can damage the plant.
- If you are not ready to plant bulbs now, then store them in a cool, dry, frost free, well ventilated location. A garage, shed, loft or cupboard are ideal. Open the paper bag to allow air to circulate round but leave the bulbs in their bags until ready to plant. Just make sure mice or other rodents can’t get access to them. Keep an eye on your bulbs while in storage, if they are showing signs of going soft, it's best to get them planted before they deteriorate any further.
- These tubers are on pre-order for dispatch Early February 2025.
