Grow your own delicious Brussels Sprouts with our healthy garden-ready plants. Brassica oleracea var. gemmifera is a traditional vegetable garden favourite, producing tasty sprouts along tall, sturdy stems for harvesting during the cooler months.

Choose from F1 Maximus, Crispus F1, Evesham Special or Mixed. Each variety offers a reliable crop and is ideal for allotments, raised beds and vegetable gardens.

Brussels Sprout plants grow best in a sunny position with fertile, firm soil. Keep plants well watered while establishing and during prolonged dry spells, providing support in exposed areas if needed.

Hardy, productive and rewarding to grow, Brussels Sprout Plants are perfect for winter meals and, of course, freshly picked sprouts for Christmas dinner.

Watering Keep the soil consistently moist while the crop is establishing and growing, especially during flowering, fruiting or rapid leafy growth. Water deeply at the base rather than little and often, allowing excess water to drain away. Plants in containers, grow bags or greenhouses may need daily checks during warm weather.

Best Growing Conditions Grow in sun or partial shade in multi-purpose compost, enriched with organic matter where appropriate. Choose an open position with good airflow and enough space for the crop to mature without excessive competition. Protect tender crops from late frost and cold winds, and use greenhouse or sheltered growing conditions where the variety requires extra warmth.

Top tip

Pick or harvest regularly while growth is young and tender, and protect fresh growth from common garden pests when necessary. It works particularly well in an allotment setting; give it enough space and light to develop naturally rather than crowding it.
