  • Calla Amethyst reinterprets the traditional calla lily, presenting trumpet-shaped flowers in rich, saturated colours that contrast beautifully with its glossy green foliage. These blooms emerge in late spring and persist throughout the summer, adding a dash of elegance and style to borders, containers, and patio displays.

  • Growing to a height of approximately 60-80cm, Calla Amethyst is a flexible option for both pots and garden beds. Its vertical growth pattern is ideal for structured planting schemes and mixed arrangements. Offered as bulbs in packs of 1, 3, 9, or 12, this variety is easy to grow, providing gardeners with reliable, long-lasting blooms.

Watering Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil around the bulbs. During active growth, water in prolonged dry spells so the soil stays lightly moist but never waterlogged. Once the foliage naturally dies back, reduce watering and allow the bulbs to rest more dryly.

Best Growing Conditions Plant in fertile loam in sun or partial shade. Choose a position that does not stay waterlogged in winter, as good drainage helps bulbs return reliably. Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering so the bulb can store energy for the following season.

    Top tip

Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering so the bulb can store energy for the following season. It works particularly well in a borders setting; give it enough space and light to develop naturally rather than crowding it.
