  • Chionodoxa, commonly called Glory of the Snow, is a low growing, early Spring flowering perennial that forms natural looking clumps of star-shaped blooms in shades of blue, pink, or white. These delightful flowers are known to be similar to bluebells and a favourite among pollinators. Plants typically reach up to 15cm in height and spread gently over time, making them ideal for naturalising.

  • Plant Chionodoxa bulbs in Autumn before the ground freezes. Choose a sunny or partially shaded spot with well-drained soil. Space the bulbs around 5-8cm apart and plant them at a depth roughly three times the height of the bulb. Water thoroughly after planting. Adding mulch or compost can help with drainage and early growth. Once flowering is finished, allow the foliage to die back naturally to support bulb development for the following year.

  • Chionodoxa bulbs are perfect for rockeries, borders, lawn edges, and patio containers. They’re also excellent for planting beneath deciduous trees and shrubs. These bulbs work beautifully planted en masse and are easy to combine with other early Spring bloomers like Crocus, Scilla, Muscari and Daffodils.
