This Fern Plant Mix is the kind of plant collection that instantly makes a space feel calmer and more relaxed. The soft green foliage brings a fresh, natural look indoors or out, and because each fern has its own shape and texture, the mix feels full, lush and really easy on the eye.

They’re perfect for those awkward shady spots where other plants don’t always thrive — bathrooms, shelves, hallways, patios or darker corners of the garden. Ferns have a way of softening a space and making it feel more lived in, almost like you’ve brought a little bit of nature indoors.

They’re also wonderfully low maintenance once settled in, so you don’t need to be an expert to enjoy them. Just keep the soil lightly moist, avoid strong direct sun, and they’ll happily reward you with fresh green growth all year round.

Watering Keep the compost lightly and evenly moist, watering when the surface just begins to dry. Avoid both prolonged dryness and waterlogged roots, and let excess water drain freely after each watering. Water a little less in winter, while maintaining reasonable humidity around the foliage.

Best Growing Conditions Grow in partial shade to gentle sun in acidic, well-drained ericaceous soil or compost. Choose a position with good airflow and enough space for the plant to reach its mature size. Mulch after planting and keep the root zone free from prolonged waterlogging, particularly through winter.

Top tip

Keep humidity reasonably steady and avoid letting the root ball dry out completely, especially during active growth. It works particularly well in a borders setting; give it enough space and light to develop naturally rather than crowding it.
