Water deeply at the base rather than little and often, allowing excess water to drain away. Plants in containers, grow bags or greenhouses may need daily checks during warm weather.

Best Growing Conditions Grow in sun or partial shade in acidic, well-drained ericaceous soil or compost, enriched with organic matter where appropriate. Choose an open position with good airflow and enough space for the crop to mature without excessive competition. Protect tender crops from late frost and cold winds, and use greenhouse or sheltered growing conditions where the variety requires extra warmth.
