  • Winter Savory also known botanically as Satureja montana. It is a resilient, evergreen herb, is prized for its diminutive, fragrant leaves and its assertive, peppery taste. While it has long been a staple for seasoning meats, beans, and hearty stews, its flavour is more pronounced than that of summer savoury, making it a favourite in Mediterranean and European cuisines. Beyond its culinary uses, its tidy, bushy form and delicate foliage make it a pleasing addition to herb borders and kitchen gardens.

  • This perennial herb is straightforward to cultivate, thriving in garden beds, raised beds, and containers, particularly when positioned in full sun with good drainage. In summer, Winter Savory produces tiny, pale flowers that draw in pollinators, further enhancing its value in the garden. Once it takes hold, it requires little upkeep and remains consistently productive from year to year.
