  • Attractive Foliage - Stachys Hummelo, also known as Lamb’s Ear, is prized for its soft, velvety leaves that add a striking purple texture and contrast to borders, rockeries, and containers.

  • Loved by Pollinators - In summer, tall flower spikes appear with purple pink blooms, highly attractive to bees and other pollinators, making it both ornamental and wildlife friendly.

  • Hardy & Low Maintenance - A drought tolerant perennial that thrives in well-drained soil and sunny spots, requiring very little care once established and returning reliably each year.

  • Plant genus Stachys

Watering Water regularly after planting until the roots are established. Once settled in, the plant is relatively drought tolerant and usually only needs extra water during prolonged dry spells. Plants grown in containers will need more frequent watering than those growing in the ground.

Best Growing Conditions Grow in sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained loam. Choose a position with good airflow and enough space for the plant to reach its mature size. Mulch after planting and keep the root zone free from prolonged waterlogging, particularly through winter.

    Top tip

Remove damaged or spent growth as it appears and keep the area around the plant free from weeds so air and light can reach the base. Good drainage is especially important, so avoid leaving the roots sitting in persistently wet or compacted soil.
