  • Acer campestre, the Field Maple, is a medium-sized deciduous tree, its form a compact, bushy crown that speaks of the British countryside. The leaves, a signature feature, are five-lobed and, come autumn, they blush with warm yellows and reds, bringing a splash of seasonal colour to gardens, hedgerows, and wider landscapes. In spring, the tree offers up small green flowers, which give way to the familiar winged maple fruits.

  • Field Maple, once it's growing well, doesn't need much extra care and can handle nearly any type of soil. It's sold as a bare root tree, so you can plant it right away when it's dormant. During its early years, giving it a drink during dry spells will help it get established. Also, putting a thick layer of well-rotted mulch around the base will help the roots grow strong
