  • Achillea ‘Summer Wine’ is a perennial powerhouse, boasting eye-catching pink flower heads that inject a burst of colour and vitality into any garden. These blooms, which last a good long while, are perfect for summer displays, instantly brightening up the landscape.

  • The plant's appeal doesn't stop there; it's also dressed in handsome, abundant foliage. This adds depth and form to the garden, even when the flowers aren't in bloom. Because of this, ‘Summer Wine’ is a fantastic addition to mixed borders, where it happily mingles with grasses, other perennials, and ornamental shrubs.

  • Achillea ‘Summer Wine’ is a magnet for pollinators, drawing in butterflies and other helpful insects, which in turn fosters a vibrant garden. This plant flourishes in full sunlight and is remarkably resilient to drought after it's settled in, proving its worth even in less-than-ideal soil. Offered as a bare root, it's simple to get going and makes a dependable, low-maintenance choice for sunny borders and flower beds.

Watering Water regularly after planting until the roots are established. Once settled in, the plant is relatively drought tolerant and usually only needs extra water during prolonged dry spells. Plants grown in containers will need more frequent watering than those growing in the ground.

Best Growing Conditions Grow in sun or partial shade in fertile loam. Choose a position with good airflow and enough space for the plant to reach its mature size. Mulch after planting and keep the root zone free from prolonged waterlogging, particularly through winter.

    Top tip

Remove damaged or spent growth as it appears and keep the area around the plant free from weeds so air and light can reach the base. It works particularly well in a borders setting; give it enough space and light to develop naturally rather than crowding it.
