  • Aconitum ‘Cloudy’ is an elegant perennial producing soft blue to violet flowers carried on tall, graceful spikes. Best planted in autumn, this variety establishes strongly and rewards gardeners with reliable growth and striking blooms that add colour and height to the garden.

  • Well suited to partially shaded locations, Aconitum ‘Cloudy’ thrives in areas that receive less direct sunlight, making it an excellent choice for shaded borders, woodland-style planting schemes and north-facing gardens. Its upright form brings structure and visual interest to spaces where flowering options are often limited.

  • This variety is also pollinator friendly, attracting bees and other beneficial insects while enhancing garden biodiversity. Supplied as a bare root plant, Aconitum ‘Cloudy’ is easy to establish and provides elegant vertical accents that enhance borders and beds year after year.

Watering Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil evenly moist while the plant establishes. Once established, water during prolonged dry periods rather than little and often, allowing the soil to drain between waterings. Container-grown plants should be checked more frequently in warm or windy weather.

Best Growing Conditions Grow in sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained loam. Choose a position with good airflow and enough space for the plant to reach its mature size. Mulch after planting and keep the root zone free from prolonged waterlogging, particularly through winter.

    Top tip

Remove damaged or spent growth as it appears and keep the area around the plant free from weeds so air and light can reach the base. Good drainage is especially important, so avoid leaving the roots sitting in persistently wet or compacted soil.
