  • Crocus ‘King of the Striped’ is a striking early Spring flowering bulb known for its large, goblet-shaped blooms featuring bold lilac-purple petals elegantly streaked with white. These hardy perennials are among the first to flower, creating vibrant carpets of colour when little else is in bloom. Reaching a height of 10-15 cm, they are highly attractive to pollinating insects.

  • Plant Crocus ‘King of the Striped’ bulbs from Autumn to early Winter in well-drained, fertile soil in full sun or light dappled shade. Space bulbs approximately 5-8 cm apart and at a depth of around 8 cm. After planting, water thoroughly and add mulch to help retain moisture and suppress weeds. Once flowering ends, allow the foliage to die back naturally, as this helps the bulb store energy for the next growing season.

  • Perfect for borders, rockeries, and containers, Crocus ‘King of the Striped’ also naturalises well in grassy areas or under deciduous trees, where their blooms shine before the canopy fills in.     Watering Water thoroughly after planting to settle the soil around the bulbs. During active growth, water in prolonged dry spells so the soil stays lightly moist but never waterlogged. Once the foliage naturally dies back, reduce watering and allow the bulbs to rest more dryly.

    Best Growing Conditions Plant in fertile loam in sun or partial shade. Choose a position that does not stay waterlogged in winter, as good drainage helps bulbs return reliably. Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering so the bulb can store energy for the following season.
