  • Hemerocallis ‘Pardon Me’ is a compact and floriferous daylily, admired for its rich, deep red flowers carried on slender stems above neat green foliage. Flowering from early to mid-summer, this variety produces an abundance of blooms, each lasting a day but quickly replaced by new flowers, ensuring a long-lasting display. It is lightly fragrant and adds strong colour to borders and mixed planting schemes.

  • Supplied as a bare root plant, ‘Pardon Me’ establishes quickly and is exceptionally reliable once planted. With an eventual height of around 40–50cm, it is perfect for the front or middle of borders, as well as containers. Hardy and easy to grow, this daylily returns year after year with minimal maintenance.

Watering Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil evenly moist while the plant establishes. Once established, water during prolonged dry periods rather than little and often, allowing the soil to drain between waterings. Container-grown plants should be checked more frequently in warm or windy weather.

Best Growing Conditions Grow in sun or partial shade in fertile loam. Choose a position with good airflow and enough space for the plant to reach its mature size. Mulch after planting and keep the root zone free from prolonged waterlogging, particularly through winter.

    Top tip

Remove damaged or spent growth as it appears and keep the area around the plant free from weeds so air and light can reach the base. It works particularly well in a borders setting; give it enough space and light to develop naturally rather than crowding it.
