• Iresine Herbstii ‘Rich Redstar’ captivates with its vivid, crimson leaves and a distinctly tropical look. The foliage, a deep, rich hue, is laced with prominent veins and possesses a glossy finish. This makes it a superb option for injecting contrast and visual impact into summer containers, borders, and indoor arrangements. It shines when used as a focal point or when paired with softer green plants to create a striking visual dynamic.

• This variety grows quickly, developing a compact, bushy form. Pinching back the stems encourages a fuller, more robust plant. ‘Rich Redstar’ is perfect for patio pots, bedding displays, and conservatories, and it also thrives indoors as a houseplant, provided it has bright light. Its vibrant colour endures throughout the growing season, making it a popular choice for modern and tropical-themed gardens.

Watering Water when the top few centimetres of compost begin to dry, then water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain away. Do not leave the plant sitting in standing water, as consistently wet roots can lead to rot. Growth slows in winter, so reduce watering frequency during cooler, darker months.

Best Growing Conditions Grow in bright, indirect light, ideally at around 18-26°C, away from cold draughts and sudden temperature changes. Use a good-quality, well-drained houseplant compost and make sure excess water can drain freely from the pot. Most houseplants perform best with moderate humidity and should be kept away from strong radiator heat.
