  • Lobelia Compact Dark Blue is a great choice if you want a deeper, richer colour in your garden without it feeling too heavy. The small dark blue flowers come through in abundance, creating a neat, full display that adds depth and contrast to beds, borders and containers.

  • This variety has a compact, mound-forming habit, so it stays tidy and easy to manage. It’s perfect for edging borders, filling gaps or adding a solid block of colour that pairs really well with lighter shades like white or pale pink.

  • Once it gets established, it will keep flowering right through the summer, giving you long-lasting colour with very little effort. It’s easy to grow and a reliable option if you want something simple that still makes an impact.

Watering Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil evenly moist while the plant establishes. Once established, water during prolonged dry periods rather than little and often, allowing the soil to drain between waterings. Container-grown plants should be checked more frequently in warm or windy weather.

Best Growing Conditions Grow in sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained loam. Choose a position with good airflow and enough space for the plant to reach its mature size. Protect from hard frost and cold, drying winds, especially while young or when grown in containers.

    Top tip

Remove faded flowers regularly to keep the plant tidy and encourage the longest possible flowering display. In colder parts of the UK, give it a sheltered position and provide winter protection during prolonged frost.
