  • Bee balm flowering perennial - Monarda, often known as Bee Balm produces bold, frilly flowers in shades of red, pink, purple, or white throughout Summer months, bringing vibrant colour and texture to beds, borders, and wildlife-friendly gardens.

  • Hardy and easy to grow - This low maintenance, hardy clump-forming perennial, thrives in sun or part shade in moist well-draining soil. It returns reliably each year and spreads gently over time.

  • Aromatic foliage - Its minty, fragrant leaves release a pleasant scent when touched, adding an extra sensory layer to garden spaces and making it a lovely addition to herbaceous or cottage-style borders.

Watering Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil evenly moist while the plant establishes. Once established, water during prolonged dry periods rather than little and often, allowing the soil to drain between waterings. Container-grown plants should be checked more frequently in warm or windy weather.

Best Growing Conditions Grow in sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained loam. Choose a position with good airflow and enough space for the plant to reach its mature size. Mulch after planting and keep the root zone free from prolonged waterlogging, particularly through winter.

    Top tip

Remove damaged or spent growth as it appears and keep the area around the plant free from weeds so air and light can reach the base. Good drainage is especially important, so avoid leaving the roots sitting in persistently wet or compacted soil.
