  • Oriental lily Hachi is a wonderfully striking variety, known for its clean white petals marked with a vivid red dash at the centre of each bloom. The star-shaped form gives this lily a crisp, architectural look in the garden, and it carries the classic oriental fragrance that makes this group of lilies so loved. Like all oriental lilies, it will happily reach between 90 and 120cm, bringing height and elegance to borders, beds and large patio containers.

  • These low-maintenance lilies are ideal for gardeners who want dependable summer colour with very little fuss. Hachi performs exceptionally well in pots, where its dramatic blooms can be enjoyed up close, but it is equally at home in mixed borders, adding a clear focal point among softer planting. The flowers last beautifully when cut, so its an excellent choice if you enjoy bringing your gardens fragrance indoors.

  • If youre storing the bulbs before planting, keep them somewhere cool, dry and well ventilated such as a shed, garage or cupboard. Leave them in their paper packaging but open the bag slightly so air can circulate. Plant as soon as possible if the bulbs begin to soften“”getting them into the ground promptly helps them recover and strengthens flowering for the season ahead.

  • Light Required Full sun to partial shade

    Watering Moderate watering

Best Growing Conditions These bulbs should be planted in Spring in acidic soil, when the chance of Winter frosts have passed. Oriental lilies look best when planted in odd numbered groups. Plant them 10 to 15 cm deep, in a hole up to three times the size of the bulb. Space them 10 to 20 cm apart in fertile well draining soil in a sheltered area that gets full sun to partial shade. Lilies like a cold dormant phase through the Winter but it's important to ensure they have adequate drainage and not get waterlogged as this causes the bulbs to rot.
