  • Shallot Matador is a reliable and flavoursome variety, producing well-shaped bulbs with a rich, slightly sweet taste. It’s a great all-round shallot that works just as well finely chopped into sauces and dressings as it does roasted whole to bring out its natural sweetness. A dependable cropper, Matador is valued for both its flavour and its consistency.

  • This variety grows well in vegetable gardens and allotments, forming clusters of shallots that are easy to lift and store. Once harvested and dried, the bulbs keep well, allowing you to enjoy homegrown shallots long after the growing season has finished.

  • Light Required Full sun

Watering Water regularly during establishment and bulb formation; reduce watering as bulbs mature.

Best Growing Conditions Plant in a sunny, open position in fertile, well-drained soil. Water regularly during dry spells, particularly while bulbs are forming, but avoid waterlogging. Harvest once the foliage yellows and collapses, then dry thoroughly before storing.
