    Watering Water regularly while the plant is establishing, then allow the upper soil to dry slightly between waterings. Established Mediterranean herbs prefer free-draining conditions and generally need less water than leafy crops. Container-grown plants will still need checking frequently during warm, dry weather.

    Best Growing Conditions Grow in sun or partial shade in multi-purpose compost. A warm, open position with good airflow encourages compact, aromatic growth and helps the soil dry between waterings. Avoid heavy, persistently wet ground, especially through winter.

    Harvest little and often to encourage fresh, bushy growth rather than allowing the plant to become overly woody or congested. It works particularly well in a containers setting; give it enough space and light to develop naturally rather than crowding it.
