  • Trailing Geranium is a lovely choice if you’re after a softer splash of colour in your garden. The gentle lilac flowers trail nicely over the edges of baskets and containers, creating a relaxed, flowing display that works beautifully on patios, balconies or garden walls.

  • Its trailing habit makes it perfect for hanging baskets, window boxes and raised planters, where the stems can spill over naturally. Once it gets established, it flowers steadily through the summer, filling out nicely and giving a full, colourful look without much effort.

  • It’s easy to grow and a great option if you want something low-maintenance that still makes an impact.

Watering Water regularly after planting until the roots are established. Once settled in, the plant is relatively drought tolerant and usually only needs extra water during prolonged dry spells. Plants grown in containers will need more frequent watering than those growing in the ground.

Best Growing Conditions Grow in sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained loam. Choose a position with good airflow and enough space for the plant to reach its mature size. Protect from hard frost and cold, drying winds, especially while young or when grown in containers.

Top tip

Remove faded flowers regularly to keep the plant tidy and encourage the longest possible flowering display. In colder parts of the UK, give it a sheltered position and provide winter protection during prolonged frost.
