• Verbena bonariensis, also known as Purple Top or Argentinian Vervain, is a striking herbaceous perennial renowned for its tall, airy structure and clusters of delicate lilac purple flowers. Reaching up to 2 metres in height, each upright stem creates a stunning vertical accent in garden borders from mid Summer into Autumn.

• A favourite among UK gardeners, this pollen rich variety has earned the prestigious RHS Award of Garden Merit. It attracts bees, butterflies, moths, and other beneficial pollinators, while also producing seeds that provide a food source for birds.

• This stylish perennial has been making a resurgence of interest recently. Tightly packed clusters of lilac-purple flowers top the tall branching stems from June to September.

Watering Water thoroughly after planting and keep the soil evenly moist while the plant establishes. Once established, water during prolonged dry periods rather than little and often, allowing the soil to drain between waterings. Container-grown plants should be checked more frequently in warm or windy weather.

Best Growing Conditions Grow in sun or partial shade in fertile, well-drained loam. Choose a position with good airflow and enough space for the plant to reach its mature size. Mulch after planting and keep the root zone free from prolonged waterlogging, particularly through winter.
